I recommend David Deida's book "The Way of the Superior Man" for any man who wants to clarify his purpose in the world and his relationship to women.  It is an amazing book and great resource for men to develop their identity in the masculine realm. I recommend  reading anything by John Gottman .  You may want to try: The Relationship Cure: A 5 Step Guide to Strengthening Your Marriage, Family, and Friendships.

For Parents:

I think that it is possible to greatly increase your parenting skills by learning new strategies.  A book that I suggest for highly effective parenting skills is:  How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Faber and Mazlish.  Click on the title to find out more about this book, or to order it.  This book is easy to read and understand, yet sophisticated in what it teaches parents about talking to their children.

If your child is being bullied or picked on, I recommend a strategy taught by psychotherapist Izzy Kalman.  He has written a great program available on CD, and read by his daughter, designed for your child to listen to.  You may want to listen with your child, to help them think through and make use of the strategy.  You may also want to listen to it alone, to help coach your child through this difficult hurdle.  His CD is called "How to Stop Being Bullied and Teased Without Really Trying".  To find out more about it or order it click here!
